To control vandalism and to ensure that I don't spend more time reverting crap than updating the site, anonymous edits are largely restricted to the discussion pages, and a fair number of pages are protected to some degree. Some pages you'll be able to edit automagically when you've been around for a while and made a few edits. Other pages need to be edited by trusted users. Permissioning on a mediawiki site is not very granular, but anyone I trust will be granted sysop status.
