Cheese is a foodstuff and also a material popularly used for cheap bicycle components. The type of cheese used for components is not known, but it bears a superficial resemblance to aluminium (or perhaps die-cast zinc). The resemblance does not extend to mechanical properties. Components made of cheese will wear, bend, fatigue, snap or dissolve in light rain, according to the wear profile and degree of potential annoyance.

Components made of cheese are most likely to be found on bike-shaped objects or BSOs.
