Helmet laws
From ChapmanCentral
Bicycle helmet laws are a contentious subject among cyclists. A few jurisdictions have passed laws, but thus far no evidence has emerged that they have produced measurable reductions in cyclist injuries. This has not stopped helmet promoters from continuing to press for laws, in some cases by misrepresenting their effects (for example, portraying a reduction in cycling in Australia as a saving in injuries).
The controversy over helmet laws results from a conflict between observational studies and ill-understood and ill-defined confounding factors.
