Not what you were expecting? The old site is still available on port 8080 - it's going to take a while to transfer the content across. Send me a mail [guy dot chapman at spamcop dot net] if there's a particular page you wanted me to expedite.

Sorry about the brief outages over the week ending 30 April, this was due to an ADSL upgrade at ChapmanCentral which then required a change of router and some other tweaks. Hopefully all is now well again.

Choir members: here is the obvious link as promised. Note that this login is just for the choir members' private area and not for the wiki (for boring technical reasons).

Cycling

Cycling is a means of transport, a form of recreation and a sport. It's the most efficient form of transport on the planet. Some people have, through creative accounting, tried to show that cycling is as "polluting" as a small, economical family car, but this is essentially sophistry as it includes all the CO2 emitted by the cyclist but ignores the fact that most people need to breathe anyway, that the growing and consumption of food is more or less carbon neutral (give or take the cost of transport, which also applies to oil of course), and that the distance travelled per unit effort expended is greater than for any other mode of transport. More...

Also...

  • The fastest cyclist on the planet is Sam Whittingham, with a new record of 82.3mph.
  • The record for Land's End to John O'Groats by bike is 41 hours
  • Velovision is a quirky bike magazine, nothing ordinary in there!

Music resources:

  • ChoralWiki, the original and best source of public domain choral music.
  • Mutopia has a wider brief than ChoralWiki.
  • IMSLP (International Music Score Library Project), does as the name suggests.
  • GOpera, Margo Briessinck's personal site has good material on lieder and Winterreise in particular.
