I am building a model railway in the games room. This is a fairly ambitious OO gauge project, the room is 27' x 17' and the track goes round twice, crossing over itself once. It's double track most of the way but with a concealed section of quadruple for parking trains, and some sidings and other workings. We are not hugely concerned with prototypical accuracy, play value is more the aim, but we don't want to make it hopeless so we're building to a scale and design which has curves of not less than 48" radius on running lines and gradients and stations which will allow for a pacific with a rake of at least 13 coaches.
