Pachelbelism

Pachelbelism n. The tendency to canonicalise things to excess.

Named after Johann Pachelbel, the baroque composer famous among musicians for elevating the art of organ music to a new peak, and known among the American public especially for a single work, Canon in D - the only canon he wrote.
