Hello and welcome to my music room. I am Guy, like the header says, and this is my site. In as much as it has a purpose, it is to share with you some of my enthusiasms and the things which have interested or amused me along the way. There is also an Infrequently Asked Questions page. A big thank you to those who send feedback, it's almost always enjoyable to read, even the ones which challenge my conclusions.
I've started experimenting with the IBM Domino Blog template and I'm considering customising it and migrating this content. It makes a few things easier, including feedback, but I'm not really convinced by the whole business of publicly viewable comments since you really don't want to read what Paul Smith's fanclub say about me and the balance is mostly just a steady trickkel of "keep up the good work". I'll ponder that for a while. For now, I've set up a live version of the blog template to play with. Feel free to poke around.
The music section is in pressing need of an update. Reading Festival Chorus performed the Missa Solemnis in April, then in the summer concert I was called on to do the bass solos in Tippet's Five Negro Spirituals and the baritone solo from Copland's The Boatmen's Dance, one of his Old American Songs series. I was hardly terrified at all much. I repeated the last at a small charity concert recently, along with Non Piu Andrai, the Slow Train and some other things.

I've been reading up on climate change and found a superb analysis by William Connolley. It holes below the waterline the usual denial by deniers of anthropogenic climate change, that in the 70s we were all worrying about an ice age. Look at the charts and see how the centuries-long steady downward trend is sharply reversed in recent decades. Sure, they could be wrong, but if we believe them and act the worst that will happen is we use a bit less energy. Where I come from that is called efficiency and is considered a good thing.
