Murder Most Foul was published in 1947 as a stinging rebuke to the "road safety" establishment whose deference to motor interests was seen as stealing the streets out from under the very feet of Britain's pedestrians. Many of the criticisms levelled in this book, written by the then-chair of the Pedestrians Association, are as valid now as they were then. If you ever wondered how we got to the situation where speeding motorists could blame cameras for causing road deaths, then you could do worse than start here.
